Lawn Pests
In the UK, the main lawn pests responsible for destroying your lawn are Leatherjackets and Chafer Grubs.
The first sign you may notice of an infestation, is an increased activity of wildlife such as birds in your garden digging up the lawn.
After that your lawn may start to look very sorry for itself with yellow and brown patches in it.
If you are worried that you may have a lawn infestation, we can inspect it for you.
We can identify which pest, if any, is present, and advise on the best course of action to rid your lawn of its unwelcome guests.

What are Chafer Grubs?
Chafer Grubs are the larvae of a Chafer Beetle.
With white bodies curved in a C shape, light brown heads, with three pairs of legs at the head end, they can be up to 18mm long.
They develop underneath your lawn and feed on the grass roots.
In late spring they emerge as a Chafer Beetle, ready to mate and lay the next generation of Chafer Grubs in your lawn.

What are Leatherjackets?
Leatherjackets are Cranefly (daddy long legs) larvae.
With greyish-brown bodies and no legs, they are around 30mm long.
They develop underneath your lawn and feed on the grass roots.
Between August and October they emerge as crane flies.
Ready to lay the next generation of Leatherjackets in your lawn.
